Abhishek Bachchan grew up on film sets as he often accompanied his father Amitabh Bachchan during his shoots and in a recent interview, Abhishek shared that back in the 1970s and early 1980s, a large part of the Hindi film industry would shift base to Kashmir during the summer. Abhishek said that with many films being shot in the region during the summer months, families of actors, actresses and directors would also move to Kashmir and it actually felt like “one big happy family.”

Abhishek shared on Mashable India, “When we were kids, summers were spent in Kashmir. Because in summer, the entire Hindi film industry used to shift to Kashmir.” He added, “At any point of time, there were at least 7-10 units living there. The biggest of actors and actresses, all there and their families used to be there. It used to be great fun.”

Abhishek painted a picture where it seemed like the time in Kashmir was a holiday for the entire film industry and their families. “In the evenings, if the husbands were shooting, the families would play Tambola at 4 pm, then tea in the evening, then dinner together. It was like one big happy family,” he said.

Abhishek recalled during the shoot of Satte Pe Satta, Amitabh would take all the kids for a ride in the customised car that was made for the film. “He used to come and all the kids, me and my sister, Adi (Aditya Chopra), Uday (Uday Chopra), Rohan (Sippy), and all, the 7-8 of us and he used to take us for a drive around Dal Lake and come back. It was wonderful, innocent times,” he recalled.

Abhishek is extensively promoting his upcoming film Ghoomer where he stars alongside Saiyami Kher and Angad Bedi. The R Balki film will release on August 18.
