Manisha Koirala reveals why she never worked with Shahrukh Khan after ‘Dil Se’

Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala worked together in Dil Se. After this, both were not seen together. Manisha has told the reason behind this.

It has been 26 years since Mani Ratnam’s film Dil Se was released. It did not do well at the box office. But it is counted among cult classic films. Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Preity Zinta played lead roles in Dil Se. Before that, Shah Rukh and Manisha had worked together in a film called Guddu. But after Dil Se, the pairing of Shah Rukh and Manisha was not seen in any film. In a recent interview, Manisha was asked a question about this. She said that this question should be asked to Shah Rukh Khan. Because people decide the heroine and hero of the films.

Manisha spoke to Times Now. In this, she was asked about not working with Shahrukh Khan again. In response, Manisha said,

“This should be asked from him. We had worked together in a film called ‘Guddu’ before ‘Dil Se’. But no one knows about it. In this industry, it is the hero who decides who he wants to work with, not the heroine. ‘Dil Se’ is the best film in my filmography. I count it among my best works along with Mani’s ‘Bombay’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Heeramandi’.”

 

In an interview, Mani Ratnam talked about the failure of ‘Dil Se’ at the box office. He said,

“During Dil Se, my Hindi was not good. I was dependent on my actors for the heart of the film. If I can reach out to a larger audience through the Hindi language, then I don’t see any reason not to make Hindi films. The purpose of making a film is to bring the experience of cinema to as many audiences as possible. Becoming a Hindi filmmaker is not an ambition. You can be a filmmaker without being of any language.

I feel that every film of mine is a part of my life. It is important for people to connect with the film. For me, the process of filmmaking is not limited to just publicity. But it is also very important that the marketing and projection of the film is done well. Especially when selling a product is as important as making it. But I also know when I am making a mistake. When I was making my first Hindi film ‘Dil Se’, I was sure that I was doing the right thing. But it did not work. This means that I must have made a mistake. The interesting thing is that people count ‘Dil Se’ among my good works.“

 

Actors like Preity Zinta, Raghubir Yadav, Piyush Mishra and Mita Vashisht worked with Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala in ‘Dil Se’. Even though this film was a flop at that time, but now people consider it one of the best films of both Shahrukh and Mani Ratnam’s career. The film is especially remembered for its songs. ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ was a song from this film.
