Deepika Padukone Was Against Being Put On Hold While Dating, Later Did The Same With Ranveer Singh

Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone has been in many high-profile relationships in the showbiz world, but her affair with her ex-boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor, is the most popular. The duo dated earlier in their careers and their breakup garnered a lot of attention at the time. After that, Deepika got into a relationship with actor, Ranveer Singh and tied the knot with him in 2018. The couple once confessed to dating each other casually in the initial years and received a lot of negative criticism for it.

Deepika Padukone spoke about wanting to be very clear about relationships

Recently, we stumbled upon an old video of Deepika Padukone, wherein she talked about seeking clarity in relationships. The actress mentioned that she hates being on standby mode and not committing to her partner. She calls such relationships a matter of convenience and a compromise. She was heard saying:

“You put somebody on hold or on standby mode, saying, ‘Let’s see how it goes. You do your thing, and I’ll do my thing, and we’ll meet six months later and see how it goes.’ I think it has no clarity of mind in a situation like this. It’s a compromise, and it’s a matter of convenience.”

Speaking along the same lines, Deepika Padukone admitted that she would never want to be in a situation like that as she wants to be clear in her life. She further called this practice wrong and mentioned that she wouldn’t encourage something like that in her life. In Deepika’s words:

“I wouldn’t like to be in a situation like that because I am someone who needs to be very clear about where I am headed or what I’m doing.”

The next segment of the video showed Deepika Padukone sharing the couch with Ranveer Singh on the chat show, Koffee With Karan 8. While conversing, the actress talked about the early stages of their relationship and revealed that she didn’t commit to Ranveer as she had been in difficult relationships in the past and wanted to be free of strings. Deepika also shared that she would meet other people, but in her mind, she was committed to Ranveer. The actress was heard saying:

“I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun! And then he came along so I didn’t commit until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other. I did meet other people. I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. I would meet other people, but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him.”
