Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter, Shweta Bachchan, once opened up about her financial dependence and expressed her desire for her children, Navya and Agastya, to be self-reliant.

Shweta Bachchan, the daughter of Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, married Nikhil Nanda at 21 and moved to Delhi. Throughout her career, she has embraced her grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s legacy by publishing her book, Paradise Towers, in 2016. Later, she ventured into fashion design, launching a brand with her best friend, Monisha Jaising. Recently, an old  video resurfaced where Shweta candidly discussed her financial dependence.

In the video, Shweta spoke about her views on financial independence and her aspirations for her children to be self-sufficient. During an interview with The Times of India, she admitted that she has been financially dependent and isn’t particularly ambitious about changing that. However, she firmly wants a different path for her children.

Shweta’s Desire for Her Children’s Independence

Shweta shared that she has set her daughter Navya on a path to support herself, which is her primary wish for both her children. She emphasized that she wouldn’t allow them to marry until they have enough money to afford their own living expenses. Shweta further stated that financial security would boost Navya’s confidence if achieved independently rather than relying on her father’s wealth. Navya is currently studying at IIM Ahmedabad and working in her father’s business.
