In an interview she revealed that she had rejected the marriage proposal twice or possibly more than that before saying yes. She also said that she always knew that she is going to marry Saif though she took some time before agreeing to get married.

When asked about the reason behind her initial resistance to Saif’s proposal, she said, “I was still in love. Maybe I thought it was too soon, or that we are just kind of getting to know each other a little, but, I think it was because of that, that’s all. But I think I was always sure that I wa going to marry him.”

Earlier Saif Ali Khan was married with Amritha Singh in 1991 who is 13 years older than Saif. A the time of marriage she was 34 years old and he was 21 years old. They have two children, actress Sara Ali Khan is their elder daughter was born in 1995 and son in 2001. After 13 years married life they got divorced in 2004.

Kareena and Saif had worked together in LOC Kargil in 2003, Omkara in 2006 and in Tashan in 2008. On the sets of Tashan the intimacy had grown up between them and they had come close with each other.
