Ranbir Kapoor, honored with the Best Actor accolade for his performance in ‘Animal’ at the 2024 Filmfare Awards, stirred controversy by not mentioning his wife, Alia Bhatt, during his acceptance speech.

Ranbir Kapoor Didn't Mention Alia Bhatt In His Filmfare Speech Due To Neetu Kapoor? Netizens React

The Bollywood power couple, who exchanged vows in April 2022 and welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November the same year, are often celebrated for their evident affection. However, Ranbir’s gratitude during his acceptance speech primarily extended to his late father, Rishi Kapoor, and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Notably absent was any acknowledgment of Alia Bhatt. Ranbir stated,

“Every day I think of you, I remember you and everything that I feel for you…the love, the affection I try to channelise it through this part and I hope you are up there in peace and resting.”

In his speech, Ranbir Kapoor did express his deep emotions for his daughter, Raha, sharing the joy of parenthood and how it intertwined with his professional commitments, notably mentioning the start of shooting ‘Animal’ just a week after her birth.

“Last but not least,” My daughter Raha, you were born and a week later I started the shoot of Animal. And every single day just to come home to you has been the most joyful experience, I love you daughtee. Mama and Papa are bringing you a bua and a massi (he addressed the awards as bua and maasi) to play with.”

Nevertheless, the absence of Alia Bhatt’s mention raised eyebrows among netizens, with some attributing it to Ranbir’s mother, Neetu Kapoor. Speculation regarding family dynamics emerged on platforms like Reddit, where opinions varied from appreciation for Ranbir’s devotion to Raha to criticism for overlooking Alia in his moment of triumph.

As reactions continue to pour in, the incident prompts discussions on familial influences in public acknowledgments and the dynamics of  celebrity relationships.
