Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor Khan, two of Bollywood’s most celebrated actresses, have often found themselves in the spotlight, not just for their acting skills but also for their occasional rivalry.

Koffee With Karan promo: Kareena warns Priyanka not to forget her roots

Their interactions frequently make headlines, especially during their appearances on Karan Johar’s hit talk show, Koffee With Karan.

One notable incident was when Kareena commented on Priyanka’s accent, leading to a memorable and sassy retort from Priyanka that captured widespread attention.

During a rapid-fire round on the show in 2012, Kareena was asked about Priyanka Chopra and responded with a sarcastic remark,

“I wonder where Priyanka got her accent from?

”This comment suggested a skepticism about the authenticity of Priyanka’s American-accented English.

The remark fueled speculation about their relationship, given their history of working together, including in the film Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006). Priyanka later addressed the comment during her own Koffee With Karan appearance. When Karan Johar brought up Kareena’s question, Priyanka shot back with,

“I think it’s the same place that her boyfriend gets it from,”

referencing Kareena’s then-boyfriend, now husband Saif Ali Khan, who had studied abroad. Priyanka’s sharp reply not only deflected the jab but also showcased the playful banter that often defines their interactions.

Their rivalry was a hot topic among fans and industry insiders, with sources revealing that the competition between them became particularly intense during the filming of Aitraaz. This rivalry reportedly led to a heated argument at a concert in Antwerp, Belgium, which required intervention from others present.

Despite their past tensions, Kareena and Priyanka’s relationship has evolved. In 2018, they appeared together on Koffee With Karan again, indicating a thaw in their previous animosity. They shared laughs and reminisced about their past, suggesting that they had moved past any lingering issues. Priyanka remarked,

“I think we didn’t even know each other. We never spent time enough with each other. By the time we did, we really started to get along.”

Currently, both actresses are focused on their respective projects. Priyanka Chopra is set to star in the Hollywood film The Bluff, while Kareena Kapoor Khan is preparing for Singham Again, a much-anticipated addition to Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, featuring a stellar cast including Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff.
