Why did Abhishek Bachchan marry Aishwarya Rai, who was previously divorced?

Why exactly did Aishwarya and Abhishek marry each other?

Abhishek after his marriage with Ash told a reporter that his wife is a beautiful woman but he had never whistled at her but courted her through his gestures, emotions and words.

Interjection, Ash said, ” This is why I’m married to him “!

Their friendship started on the sets of ” Dhaai Akshar Prem Ki ” in 2000. Abhishek was engaged to Karishma Kapoor and Aishwarya was in a relationship with Salman Khan.

But due to some reasons the engagement broke off and Ash and Salman too were separated due to unacceptable behaviour of Salman towards Ash. Then Ash was with Vivek Oberoi, but even this didn’t last long.

It was on the sets of ‘ Bunty Aur Bubli ‘ (2005) and to be precise while shooting for the song ‘ Kajrare ‘, these two started having feelings for each other.

There were some rumours that Jaya Bachchan’s choice for her son was in fact Rani Mukherjee, but Amitabh wanted Ash to be their daughter in law!

Abhishek however fell for Ash and proposed to her in New York when both were there for the premier of their flick ‘ Guru ‘ and Ash immediately accepted his proposal.

Then they got engaged in Jan 2007 and married on 20th April 2007. They’re now blessed with a pretty daughter Aaradhya, who’s around four and a half years old!
