Actor Salman Khan is one of the most popular actors in India. However, with popularity comes the dangers of being so famous. It was proven ominous when two people fired in front of his house back in April. Now, the police have filed a chargesheet in the case. Here is everything you need to know about the case till now in 10 pointers.

Two men shot outside actor Salman Khan’s home, the Galaxy apartment in Mumbai on 14th April. The men, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Champaran, Bihar, worked for Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The men fired five shots at Salman’s Galaxy Apartment. One bullet hit the balcony. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang had already threatened him in 2022, targeting the actor for his alleged involvement in the 1998 Blackbuck killing. The gang had threatened that the actor would meet the same fate as late singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde also met Salman’s family and promised their safety. He said to ANI, “I met with Salman Khan and assured him the government is with him. I also directed the police team to take immediate action on this, and in that path, two of the accused have been arrested. This is Maharashtra; no gang is left here.”

Actor Salman Khan’s security has been increased after the attacks

Salman Khan went to Dubai to attend an event after the gunfire incident, and he came back on April 21. The actor was seen accompanied by heavy security during this tour. Then, there was a second plot to kill Salman Khan, which was busted by the police. The police made several arrests on 28th April 2024 in this case.

Those who got arrested on April 28 have been identified as Dhananjay Tapesingh alias Ajay Kashyap from Panvel, Gaurav Bhatia alias Sandeep Bishnoi from Gujarat, Vaspi Khan alias Waseem Chikna from Sambhajinagar and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan from Bangalore.

According to Navi Mumbai Police, Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang was preparing to kill actor Salman Khan with the Turkey-made Zigana pistol which was also used to kill Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

One of the arrested accused in the Salman Khan house firing case, Anuj Thapan, 32, died by suicide at a Mumbai police lock-up on May 1st.

A four-member team of the Mumbai Police met Salman Khan on 5th June and recorded his statement in connection with the incident of firing outside the family’s residence in April. Salman Khan’s brother, Arbaaz, also gave his statement to the police at the actor’s flat in Galaxy Apartments.

In June, police recovered an audio recording from the phone of the arrested suspect involved in the firing and the recovered audio recording matches with the audio samples of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi that were kept by the agency.

According to the latest chargesheet, the police believe that the attack on Salman Khan was to take place either during a movie shoot or while Khan was leaving his Panvel farmhouse, similar to the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.
