‘Shah Rukh Khan was scolded by Yash Johar for letting me sleep in his van’: Archana Puran Singh recalls KKHH incident, calls SRK ‘a gentleman’

Every actor who has worked with Shah Rukh Khan has a kind story to share about their expeirence working with him. The latest to join the list is veteran actress Archana Puran Singh. In a recent interview, the actress recalled Shah Rukh Khan‘s kind gesture that almost got him a scolding from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai producer Yash Johar.

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Archana Puran Singh recalled her days shooting for the 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Salman Khan. After being shown a picture of her dancing with Anupam Kher and Shah Rukh Khan, the actress revealed the backstory.

She said, “This is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the song “Koi Mil Gaya”. This was when we shot in Mehboob (Studio), and I remember while shooting the song — on stage 2 or something, the makeup rooms were quite far. Shah Rukh had a van, and Kajol didn’t. The makeup rooms were far, and I was wearing heels. It was difficult to walk after dancing, I wanted to sit. So, Shah Rukh Khan offered me his van.”

She further recalled, “There was a long gap and I dozed off in the van. So, Shah Rukh must have come and he was like, ‘Let her sleep, I am anyways going for the shot.’ I was fast asleep, but I could hear faintly that Shah Rukh got a call and he left whispering so I didn’t get up. He did that to not disturb my sleep. It was sweet that he left his van for his co-star.”

However, this sweet gesture angered Yash Johar, recalls Archana. She said, “Yash Johar–the film producer, became angry. He was like, ‘Why are you out of your van, go inside.’ Shah Rukh answered that I was sleeping. Yash ji went like: ‘Who is sleeping in your van?’ He answered, ‘Archana ji’. When I woke up, I asked Shah Rukh ‘why are you doing this?’”

The actress called him sweet and a gentleman. “I also remember once I get up I’m always hungry. I took a few sweets from his fridge. I shooed away the spotboy, and I ate about half of the sweet box.”

Previously, Chetan Bhagat recalled the actor’s kind gesture towards his mother on the sets of Om Shanti Om. In an interview with India Today, the 2 States author said, “Once I remember, Om Shanti Om was being shot and at that time I was new. I was not popular. My mother was there. The shot got over and he saw that my mother is older, and he picked up a chair for my mother. Nobody on the set thought of it. How can I not like that level of person?”
