Ghuspaithiya Review: 5 Thoughts I Had After Watching Urvashi Rautela’s Film About Cyber Crime
Urvashi Rautela, Akshay Oberoi, Vineet Kumar Singh and Govind Namdev starrer Ghuspaithiya is all set to hit the theatres on August 9. Directed by Susi Ganeshan, this film is a thriller that dives into the world of cybercrime bringing forth a new perspective. The film has its ups and downs but manages to hold its own and tell a story that matters. Without further ado, let’s dive into the thoughts I had after watching the film just days before its release.

GHUSPAITHIYA Official Trailer | Vineet Kumar | Urvashi Rautela | Akshay Oberoi | Susi G | 9th August

1. Premise

Vineet Kumar Singh plays a UP Police officer who has been tasked with tapping the phones of influential people. During his mission, he uncovers some shocking information and even stumbles upon a call that involves his wife (played by Urvashi Rautela). The story then takes a turn as the lines between his personal and professional life begin to blur. Akshay Oberoi plays the antagonist in the film which then dives into the world of cyber crime and police reforms. The premise deals with a sensitive topic of shocking crimes that can be committed with a click of a button.

2. Screenplay

It’s safe to say that while the story does falter here and there, it’s all forgivable, thanks to the gripping screenplay that keeps one hooked to the film. The writing deserves credit where it’s due. The screenplay is just as much of a star of this as the actors.

3. Performance

Vineet Kumar Singh delivers a stellar performance as he brings forth the internal conflicts of his character and translates them beautifully on the big screen. Sure, the film may not have taken the right route for promotion with Urvashi Rautela in the picture, but the actress held her ground and proved her mettle in acting with her portrayal of a rather layered character. Don’t let Akshay Oberoi’s looks deceive you because he’s the perfect antagonist, who makes you feel the rage of those he targets.

4. Direction

Susi Ganeshan’s direction brings us a cinematic treat while raising awareness about a critical social evil in today’s age and time and that too in a sensitive manner. The director has created the perfect blend of cinema with his secret sauce of a gripping screenplay, brilliant performances and impeccable direction along with a background score that adds more value to the story and visuals that make it a beautiful experience for the viewers.

5. Social Message

There’s something really special about films that have a story to tell and a message to give. Not only does it bring forth the importance of cyber safety and highlight cyber threats and crimes, but the film also highlights the need for police reforms and showcases the problems faced by the cops (no thanks to workplace politics).
