Jaya Bachchan Schooled Arshad Warsi Over His Airport Look, Asked Him To Keep His Opinion To Himself

In a recent interview on Unfiltered by Samdish, Arshad shared a humorous story from his early career, recalling his travel to Hyderabad for a film shoot in minimal attire. He said:

I was new in the film industry and my knowledge was zero. I came from a different world. During my first film, Tere Mere Sapne, we had to go to Hyderabad to shoot and I sat in the flight wearing chaddi and baniyan. Pehle toh vaise he ghoomte the dance-vanse karte the.”

Jaya Bachchan was reportedly displeased with Arshad’s casual dress code. He recounted receiving a message from Jaya ji’s team asking him to dress more appropriately for travel. He shared:

“When Jaya ji got to know about this, I received a message, ‘Please tell Mr Warsi to dress appropriately while travelling.’”

Arshad also discussed the culture of insincerity in Bollywood, recalling another incident involving Jaya Bachchan.

During a film screening she organized, he candidly described the film as “horrible.” Jaya Bachchan, unhappy with his brutal honesty, advised him to keep such opinions to himself. Arshad reflected:

Once Jaya ji called me for a film. They used to call people to get their opinion. She asked me, ‘Kaisi lagi?’ I responded, ‘Bakwaas’. She took me to the corner and said, ‘Keep your opinion to yourself.’ These are lessons learnt. Yaha pe sach toh bolna hi nahi hai, doesn’t matter how bad the film is.”

Arshad Warsi’s recent work includes  Bachchhan Paandey, and he will soon appear in Welcome To The Jungle and Jolly LLB 3.
